This guide book includes a collection of cycling routes from six popular locations around the island, namely:
- Benllech
- Beaumaris
- Newborough
- Rhosneigr
- Trearddur Bay
- Cemaes Bay
For each location, the book includes 4 specific routes of distances: 25km, 30km, 40km and 50km.
The book also includes 6 "epic" rides of 80-100km- each of which spans 2 of the above locations, thus giving a total of 6 routes to choose from for each location.
All the notable hills are detailed within each route and practical information is included such as nearby train stations, bike shops and cafés.
Detailed route maps are included and all the routes are available for free-download for navigation purposes.
Each route includes a detailed map showing distance markers, train stations, places of interest and cafe stops.
Detailed elevation profiles are included for each route, together with individual analyses of all the notable climbs, so that you know what to expect along the way - and factor-in any alternatives to skips the big climbs if you want to avoid them.
There is a detailed narrative included for each route, including photos of the scenery along the way as well as a description of nearby towns and visitor attractions, therefore allowing you to break your journey accordingly if you so choose.
The terrain is quite varied across the island, giving lots of options to align to your wishes. The southern and western side of the island are distinctly flatter than the north and east.
Should you choose to accept the challenge, the island also hosts one of the steepest roads in the UK, named "Allt Bron Philip" and located near the village of Llanddona - it also features in Simon Warren's Cycling Climbs of Wales.
