The Cheshire Cycleway is a 283km waymarked route around the county of Cheshire that encompasses a wide variety of terrain ranging from the flat Cheshire Plain to the hills and climbs of the Peak District. The route mostly follows country lanes spanning east to west from Wildboarclough to the Wirral Peninsula - and north to south from High Legh to Audlem.
It is a circular route, thus enabling you to start and finish at any point that is convenient!
This is the 3rd edition of this guide book and, as well as detailing the original waymarked route, it includes alternatives to some of the sections of the route that are better suited for road bikes. This version also has a clearer layout and updates to the Practical Information sections where needed.
The book divides the route into nine stages, each having start and finish points in towns or at specific cafés. The stages also have short-cut options, enabling a pick-and-mix approach to plan your ride. The shortest combination is 177km and the longest is 290km.
Each stage includes a detailed map and all the route options are available for free-download as .gpx files for navigation purposes.
There is a detailed narrative included for each stage, including numerous photos of the scenery along the route as well as a description of nearby towns and visitor attractions, therefore allowing you to break your journey accordingly if you so choose.
Detailed ride data and elevation profiles are included for each stage, together with individual analyses of all the notable climbs, so that you know which route options to plan and what to expect along the way.
Practical information is also included such as nearby train stations, accommodation, bike shops, pubs and cafés.
