Lancaster

Forest of Bowland Circuit
The route starts by following the Way of the Roses route via traffic-free paths to clear Lancaster city centre. The route passes through Gressingham, Hornby and Wray before leaving the Way of the Roses towards Lowgill and the start of the long climb up Lythe Fell to reach the highest point of the route. The descent that follows is as spectacular as it is scenic - enjoy! The route continues to reach Slaidburn and Dunsop Bridge, whereby the incline starts and steepens as you climb through the Trough of Bowland. The descent down the other side follows the Marshaw Wyre (river). After you cross Tarnbrook Wyre, the final notable climb commences up to Jubilee Tower - this is the easier side, which will become obvious as you embrace the steep descent down the other side towards Quernmore - take care around the sharp bends.
