Wilmslow is neatly located between the Peak District and the Cheshire Plain. Ride west and you’ll barely see a hill; ride east and you’ll encounter some of the toughest climbs in the country.

This book comprises a collection of five scenic routes, ranging from 20 to 60km – each starting from a different location in Wilmslow. Where possible, the routes avoid the main roads and follow either cycle paths or quiet lanes. There are a few hills included in some of the routes, with Artists Lane as the toughest climb.

Photographs and detailed route maps are included, and all the routes are available to download for navigation purposes.

Dale’s Way is 21km and is fairly flat apart from a single notable climb.

The Tatton Park 60 Route is 60.8km, reasonably flat and has one notable climb.

The A555 Bypass Route is 40km with rolling terrain and has two notable climbs.

The Artists Lane Route is 36km and has the most challenging climbs of the routes in this book.

The Heritage Loop (Laureen’s Ride) is a 30km waymarked horse-riding and cycling route that includes plenty of low-level, off-road riding – ideal for gravel and hybrid bikes (or an easy ride on a mountain bike).
