This book is for people living near or visiting the Cheshire and South Manchester area wanting to ride gravel bikes on permissible off-road tracks.

The book takes you off the beaten track to explore a selection of the best gravel trails across the area. It includes 13 cycling routes that range from 36-87km and start from a variety of locations around the region.

All the routes are circular, so you can pick your start-point anywhere on each route - and many of the routes touch (or come close to) other routes, so you can ad-lib and interconnect sections to form your own routes as your gravel knowledge of the area grows.

All the routes have navigation files (.gpx format), which are available for free-download.

gravel-routes

The routes with this book are all a mix of off-road tracks and on-road sections, which link together the off-road bits to make circular routes.

The off-road sections fall into the middle-ground of gravel bikes - more interesting than tarmac but not into the territory of technical mountain biking.

A scale of 1-10 is used to rate each of the routes for the degree of intensity of riding - all of the routes can be ridden on a gravel bike. There is a good range across the routes - some are more challenging than others - explained in detail in the book so you know what to expect before you embark.
